Death anniversary of journalist Mizanur Rahman observed

DHAKA, July 19, 2020 (BSS) – The 17th death anniversary of
journalist and 1952 language movement veteran Mizanur Rahman was
observed in a befitting manner in Gazipur today.

Marking the day, Journalist Mizanur Rahman Smriti Parishad and
Gazipur Union of Journalists offered ‘Fateha’ at the grave of Mizanur
and organized milad and doa mahfils at Mizanur’s village home at
Gazipura of Tongi in Gazipur in the morning.

Later, Gazipur press club organized a discussion and doa mahfil at
11 am with Dainik Ganamukh Editor Professor Amzad Hossain in the
chair.

Former general secretary of the Gazipur press club Rahim Sarker
conducted the programme while its former presidents Professor MA Bari,
Professor Mukul Kumar Mallik and Professor Enamul Haque took part in
the discussion.

Rahman, a devoted and bold journalist, died of old-age complications
on July 19, 2003.

He served as commercial editor at the state-run news agency
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), chief reporter of esteemed Bangla
daily Ittefaq, and chief editor of Bangladesh Press International
(BPI).

He also served deferent positions in Bangladesh Chhatra League’s
Dhaka district unit when he was a student of Dhaka College.
