Govt. working to improve living standard of minorities: Khalid

MYMENSINGH, July 19, 2020 (BSS)- State Minister for Culture KM Khalid today said the present government is working relentlessly to perk up the living standards of minorities and safeguard their interests.

Khalid also said that the government has taken groundbreaking steps to ensure equal rights for people of all communities.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a bicycle distribution function at Muktagachha Upazila Parishad premises, as a part of the welfare programme for children belonging to ethnic minorities, arranged by Prime Minister’s Office.

The minister distributed 30 bicycles among the children of small ethnic groups in Muktagachha upazila and advised the students to pay special attention to their education to build a beautiful and secure future for themselves.

Later, the state minister distributed 5,000 saplings of fruit , forest and medicinal plants among the senior officials of various educational institutions at a function.

Khalid also announced that 99,000 saplings of different species will be planted in the premises of various educational institutions and mosques in Muktagachha Upazila in August, on the occasion of Mujib Year.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Subarna Sarkar presided over the function while General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Billal Hossain Sarkar, Upazilla Parishad Vice Chairman Arab Ali, Upazilla Awami league Vice President Azizul Haque Idu, President of Muktagachha Press Club Nazrul Islam, Muktagachha Thana OC Biplob Kumar and government officials of different levels were present.
