Condolence meeting in memory of Mohammed Nasim to be held tomorrow

DHAKA, July 14, 2020 (BSS)- A virtual condolence meeting will be held tomorrow to recall the memories of Awami League (AL) presidium member and 14-party alliance’s spokesperson Mohammed Nasim.

It will be held on ‘Zoom’, an online platform on 8 pm and will also be broadcast live on the AL’s official Facebook page www.facebook.com/awamileague.1949 and Youtube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/myalbd) under the arrangement of the central 14-party alliance, a press release said here today.

Chaired by Awami League advisory council member, coordinator and spokesperson of the central 14-party alliance Amir Hossain Amu, leaders of the 14-party alliance will take part in the meeting.
Mohammed Nasim passed away at a city hospital on June 13 at the age of 72.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

Nasim was born on April 2, 1948 in Kazipur Upazila of Sirajganj district to Muhammad Mansur Ali and Amena Mansur.

Muhammad Mansur Ali, a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, served as the 3rd prime minister of Bangladesh in 1975 and was one of the four national leaders killed in the Dhaka Central Jail on November 3, 1975.

Nasim was elected Member of Parliament for five times in 1986, 1996, 2001, 2014 and 2018.

The veteran AL leader was sworn in as Minister for Health and Family Welfare on January 12 in 2014.
