Taposh urges city dwellers not to throw waste in open spaces

DHAKA, July 13, 2020 (BSS) – Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh urged the city residents not to dump waste in open spaces or streets.

“From now on, all the waste management activities will be carried out from 6 pm to 6 am as our main aim is to give a clean city to city dwellers after 6 am,” he said at a meeting on waste management at Nagar Bhaban this afternoon.

Apart from city people, Taposh called upon businessmen not to throw any kind of garbage in the open spaces during day time.

“Our waste collectors will collect garbage from your business establishment between 6 pm to 10 pm ….so keep wastage in the container or waste transfer centre designated by the city corporation,” he said adding “Soon we will start a new form of waste management.”

He also said under the new work plan and management, a total of 75 primary waste collection service providers will be appointed in each ward of DSCC.

They will be registered with specific conditions and if they break the conditions, their registration will be canceled.

Among others, City Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer Shah Md. Imdadul Haque, Chief Waste Management Officer Air Commodore Md. Badrul Amin, Secretary Akramuzzaman and senior officials of DSCC were present at the meeting.
