JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina suspended
DHAKA, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – The ministry of health has temporarily
suspended JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury from the
National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) for her alleged
involvement in providing fake coronavirus test reports and embezzling
money of patients.
An office order, to this end, signed by the concerned ministry’s
secretary Abdul Mannan was issued today.
According to the office order, she served as the chairman of the
non-governmental organization JKG Health Care side by side with
working at the NICVD which is a punishable offense under the
Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 2018.
Thus, Sabrina is suspended according to Government Employees
(Discipline and Appeal) Rules 2018 12 (1).
Police arrested her today in the cases filed over the issuance of
fake coronavirus test reports.
She was taken to the Tejgaon zone deputy commissioner (DC) office
for interrogation and later she was shown arrested at Tejgaon thana,
DC of Tejagon Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid told BSS.
The police will produce Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury before the court
tomorrow with a remand plea.
Earlier on June 24, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested JKG
Health Care Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ariful Chowdhury, husband of
Sabrina, and five others for their alleged involvement in the Covid-19
tests scam.
