PM stands beside countrymen to solve their problems : Rezaul
PIROJPUR, June 28, 2020 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stood beside people of the country to resolve their problems and difficulties.
“There is no alternative besides Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for this country as she always has stood by her people during their hard times. She has proved it during saving lives in the time of natural disasters Amphan and Bulbul and giving all necessary assistances when it was needed,” he said.
The minister was speaking at a relief distribution programme on Nazirpur Upazila Parishad premises here as the chief guest.
He distributed 200 bundles of corrugated iron sheets and Taka 6 lakh among the cyclone ‘Bulbul’-hit 137 people and organizations there.
The minister said that despite the loss of 1.39 lakh lives in the cyclone on April 29 in 1991, the then BNP government had not taken any measures in order to save the lives of the people of the coastal areas.
Even, BNP did not take any post-disaster measures like giving necessary housing materials and relief to the disaster-hit, he said, adding that BNP had failed miserably in dealing with the situation on that time as a government.
Lauding the present government’s endeavor for the betterment of the people, he said as per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, six crore people from more than 1.5 crore families have been provided relief assistance amid coronavirus pandemic and the distribution of the releif is still going on.
The incumbent government has also provided adequate amount of baby food as relief for the children, he continued.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer(UNO) Md Obaidur Rahman and Upazila chairman Amulya Ranjan Haldar, District Awami League(AL) joint secretary and District Jubo League President Akhtaruzzaman Fulu, AL leader Atiar Rahman Chowdhury Nannu, Juba League former central leader Kamruzzaman Shamim ,Nazirpur Upazila AL general secretary Mosharraf Hossain Khan, Freedom fighter Gautam Chowdhury and Upazila vice chairman Mostafizur Rahman Ranju were also present on the occasion.
