2nd special flight leaves USA with 112 stranded Bangladeshis

DHAKA, June 6, 2020 (BSS) – The second special flight with 112
Bangladeshis stranded in the USA amid COVID-19 pandemic departed for
the country from New York (NY) today.

The chartered aircraft of Qatar Airlines took off at 9:00 am (NY
local time) from John F Kennedy (JFK) International Airport, according
to a press release issued by Bangladesh consulate general in New York
received here.

The flighty is scheduled to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International
Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka 4:45pm (local time) tomorrow, it added.

Consul General of Bangladesh in New York Sadia Faizunnesa was
present at the airport to see off the stranded Bangladeshi citizens.

All passengers are carrying Covid-19 symptom-free medical
certificates while they would submit Health Declaration Forms to
Bangladesh Immigration officials on arrival at Dhaka airport, said the
release.

Bangladesh foreign ministry in coordination with Bangladesh
missions in the USA chartered the second special flight of Qatar
Airlines to bring home the stranded Bangladeshis.

On May 15, Bangladesh brought back of its 247 stranded nationals
from the US arranging the first special flight operated from
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) to HSIA.

Besides, Bangladesh so far repatriated its stranded nationals from
the UK, Canada, Australia, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Other countries, including India, the UK, India, Japan, Canada,
Australia, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Bhutan, Myanmar
and different European countries also operated several special
chartered flights amid the flight suspension to repatriate their
citizens from here.

On May 25, Bangladesh extended the ongoing ban on flight operation
for the seventh consecutive time till June 15 over the coronavirus
fear while it resumed flights on domestic routes on June 1.
