44 more COVID -19 patients detected in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 6, 2020 (BSS) – Forty four more people have been diagnosed with corona virus infection today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 44 infected patients of seven districts in the division were reported today after diagnosing 376 samples at the two laboratories.

Of them, 13 new patients of two districts were reported today after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 13 new patients include four in Rangpur, six in Gaibandha, one each in Lalmonirhat, Panchagarh and Kurigram districts” said Chief of Divisional Corona virus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 31 new patients were reported today after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 31 new COVID-19 patients include 26 in Dinajpur and five in Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS tonight.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients now rose to 1,353 as 44 new cases were reported in the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the patients is 468 in Rangpur, 87 in Panchagarh, 154 in Nilphamari, 49 in Lalmonirhat, 76 in Kurigram, 135 in Thakurgaon, 307 in Dinajpur and 77 in Gaibandha districts in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
