Ex national footballer Golam Rabbani Helal passes away

DHAKA, May 30, 2020 (BSS) – Former national footballer and Dhaka
Abahani Director Golam Rabbani Helal passed away at a city hospital
today.

He breathed his last around 12.00 noon at the age of 62 at Square
Hospital where he was admitted on Thursday following a brain
haemorrhage, said a press release.

Helal left behind his wife, two daughters and a host of relatives
and admirers to mourn his death.

He had been suffering from kidney and heart ailments for long.

The legendary footballer was laid to eternal rest at the Azimpur
graveyard following his Namaz-e-Janaza at Abahani Club ground at
4.30pm.

Helal played as a dependable player for the Abahani Football Team
from 1975 to 1987 while he played for the national team from 1979 to
1985. After his retirement, he served the Abahani Limited in different
capacities, including its director and manager.

He also served BFF as an executive committee member in 2008.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Salahuddin and
other officials and staff expressed profound shock and sorrow at the
death of the former national footballer.

In a condolence message, they prayed for eternal peace of the
departed soul and conveyed deep to the bereaved family.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Nazib Ahmed also condoled
the death of Helal and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Besides, management board, officials and players of the Abahani also
expressed their condolences at the passing away of Helal and conveyed
deep to the bereaved family.
