Govt to take Tk 100cr project to repair embankments: Zahid
DHAKA, May 28, 2020(BSS)- State minister for water resources Zahid Faruk
today said the government is going to take a project involving Taka 100 to
repair the embankments damaged by the recent super cyclone Amphan.
“The army is assisting in the embankment repairing work so that it can be
done quickly. However, natural disasters happen regularly in the country due
tothe adverse impact of climate change. So, we are working for making
sustainable embankments to resolve the problems,” he said.
He came up with the remarks while visitingHaraddah in Sadar upazila,
Tatinakhali and Kamalkhati in Shyamnagar, Hazrakhali and Padmapukur and
Dayalghat in Assasuniupazila of Satkhira and Madinabad of Koyra upazila in
Khulna districts.

Shyamnagar Upazila Chairman Ataul Haque Dolan accompanied the state minister
during the visit.
About 99 embankments at about 170 placeshave been damaged in Koyra and
Dakop upazilas of Khulna and Shyamnagar and Assasuni upazilas of Satkhira.
