JS speaker for timely preservation, marketing of agri-products
DHAKA, May 19, 2020 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today laid emphasis on timely preservation and marketing of agricultural products as they are perishable items.
The Speaker made the call while exchanging views with 16 farmers at a programme on ‘Marketing of agricultural products’ as the chief guest through video conferencing, a press release said.
The programme was organized by Upazila Agriculture Office of Pirganj, Rangpur.
She called upon all concerned to work together to overcome the current crisis faced by the agricultural sector in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
During the video conference, she also inaugurated the distribution programme of various vegetables among 400 families to meet their nutritional requirement.
She said the present Awami League government is an agriculture-friendly government, adding that the government is working relentlessly for the development of agriculture and farmers.
The speaker expressed her firm belief that the government would continue its efforts and take various steps in the agricultural sector for further expansion of agriculture not only in the corona situation but also throughout the year.
Pirganj Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Sadequzzaman Sarkar conducted the programme.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer TMA Momin, concerned officials and farmers including dairy farmers were present on the occasion.
