70pc boro paddy harvested in M’singh

Mymensingh, May 19, 2020 (BSS) – The harvesting of Boro paddy is going on
in fullswing in Mymensingh district.

According to Department of Agricultural Extension, around 70 percent of
Boro paddy has sofar been harvested in all 13 upazilas of the district.

Most of the farmers could easily cut, clean and store their paddywith the
help of the harvester and reaper machines at low cost and shortest time this
season, said sources at DAE office.

Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Abdul Mazed
told BSS that Boro farmers are getting satisfactory yield this year.

He also saidfavourable weather,supply of quality seeds,fertilizers,
irrigation facilities and electricity along with modern technologies helped
farmers for bumper yield of paddy.

Over of 2.59 lakh hectares of land were brought under Boro cultivation this
year in the district, said the sources.

The farmers are happy after getting bumper yield of Boro paddy.

Farmers Shawkat Ali of Kumergata and Khalilur Rahmam ofTarati union of
Muktagacha upazila said they are happy to get satisfactory yields of Boro
paddy this year.

They thanked the government for providing necessary assistance including,
supply of quality seeds and irrigation facilities.

DAE sources told BSS that the government has supplied 47 combined harvester
machines and 21 reaper machines among the farmers at 50% subsidized rate in
order to quick harvesting with low cost and shortest time, said the sources.
