16 new test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 11, 2020 (BSS) – Sixteen people were tested positive for
coronavirus today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories raising the total number
of coronavirus to 358 in Rangpur division.

Of them, 12 patients were detected at COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur
Medical College (RMC) in Rangpur while four others at COVID-19 Laboratory at
M Abdur Rahim Medical College ((MARMC) in Dinajpur.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said 12 people were tested
positive for coronavirus after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19
Laboratory in Rangpur today.

“The newly infected 12 coronavirus patients include nine of Rangpur, a
health worker and a youth of Sadar upazila in Lalmonirhat and a minor child
of Kurigram districts,” Dr. Lyzu added.

The nine new patients of Rangpur include four policemen, an Ansar member,
two employees of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and two health workers.

Meanwhile, four new people were tested positive for coronavirus after
diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at MARMC in Dinajpur today.

“The newly infected four patients include two of Nilphamari and one each of
Thakurgaon and Dinajpur districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh
Sarker told BSS at 7:50 pm tonight.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of coronavirus patients rose
to 358 with the infection of 16 new people in Rangpur division today.

“The district-wise break up of the COVID-19 patients now stands at 143 in
Rangpur, 13 in Panchagarh, 52 in Nilphamari, 15 in Lalmonirhat, 34 in
Kurigram, 25 in Thakurgaon, 52 in Dinajpur and 24 Gaibandha districts in the
division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
