CJ forms 3 High Court benches to hold trial virtually

DHAKA, May 10, 2020 (BSS) – Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain formed three single judge High Court benches today to hold trial through virtual attendance under ‘Usage of Information and Communication Technology in Court Ordinance, 2020’ and in line with apex court’s practice direction.

A High Court Division notification signed by Deputy Registrar (Administration and Judicial) Mohammad Aktaruzzaman Bhuiyan said the three benches of Justice Obaidul Hassan, Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar will hold trial by using information and communication technology during the ongoing general holiday, court vacation and till passing of further order in this regard.

Earlier, the chief justice nominated Justice Md Nuruzzaman as Chamber Judge to conduct trial at the Appellate Division during the same period and in the same way.

The apex court also issued 15 practice directions for the Appellate Division and another 15 for the High Court Division to conduct court proceedings remotely through video conferencing.
