BAF aircrews leave for UK to ferry C-130J transport aircraft

DHAKA, May 10, 2020 (BSS) – Fifteen aircrews of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF)
today left here for the UK through a chartered flight of Bangladesh Biman
arranged by BAF Welfare Trust to ferry the second C-130J aircraft from the UK
to Bangladesh.

The mission was led by Group Captain Santanu Chowdhury, GD (P) of the BAF
while Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force, Air Chief Marshal
Masihuzzaman Serniabat provided necessary guidance to carry out the mission,
said an Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) press release here.

Besides, the BAF Welfare Trust also made necessary arrangement for those
people in Bangladesh who wish to go to the UK in this coronavirus situation
through this chartered flight of Bangladesh Biman along with the BAF
aircrews, the release added.

Not only that, the Bangladeshi expatriates who wish to come back home from
the UK, BAF Welfare Trust also arranged their return home with the
coordination of Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem, it
said.

According to the press release, with the direction and relentless effort of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the present government has taken various steps
to modernize the BAF.

In this development process, government has taken steps to induct 05 US
origin C-130J aircraft from the United Kingdom through Government to
Government agreement.

Following this, the process of inducting C-130J is being continued to BAF
through the procurement and maintenance agreement with Royal Air Force and
Marshal Aerospace and Defence Group of the UK respectively, the release said.
