CMCH gets PCR machine to test COVID-19 samples

CHATTOGRAM, May 05, 2020 (BSS) – The authority of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) has given a PCR machine to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) to detect novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

CVASU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gautam Buddha Das handed over the PCR machine to CMC Principal Professor Dr M Shamim Hossain at a ceremony at his office this morning, Khalilur Rahman, deputy director public relation of CVASU, told BSS.

Earlier, the inauguration of Corona detection lab at CMCH has become uncertain due to a big fault in PCR machine supplied by the contractor.

Amidst this uncertainty, the CVASU authorities have stood beside CMCH by handing over a PCR machine, Dr M Shamim Hossain said.

It is mentionable that the number of corona infected patients in Chattogram has increased side by side the demand for sample testing also increases here.

In this situation, the Ministry of Health took initiative to set up PCR lab at CMCH on an urgent basis.
