Banking hours to be 10am to 2.30pm from May 10: BB

DHAKA, May 5, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Bank (BB) has fixed the banking
hours from 10am to 2.30pm from May 10 amid the general holidays.

“Banks will remain open from 10am to 3.30pm while the transaction will be
made between 10am and 2.30pm,” said a Bangladesh Bank (BB) circular issued
here today.

The new timings will be effective from May 10 and will continue until
further notice, the circular added.

However, during the transaction period from 10am to 2.30pm, there will be
a 15-minute break from 1.15pm to 1.30pm for Zuhr prayers.

The central bank instructed all banks to keep at least one branch open in
each district or in the important places of the district.

The Bangladesh Bank also asked the banks to keep open foreign currency
dealing authorized dealer branches in metropolitan or divisional cities.

The central bank has directed the banks to maintain the safety and
hygienic health guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) while
operating the banks.

Banks in the country have been providing services on a limited scale from
March 29 amid the countrywide general holiday announced by the government to
curb the spread of novel coronavirus.
