21 more tested positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 5, 2020 (BSS) – Twenty-one more people of four districts were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after diagnosing a total of 188 samples at two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur of Rangpur division today.

Health officials said the total number of infected patients sharply rose to 222 with the deletion of 21 more positive for coronavirus people today in the division.

The 21 newly infected coronavirus patients include seven of Rangpur metropolis alone in Rangpur, seven of different areas in Dinajpur, six of different areas in Nilphamari and one of Thakurgaon districts.

“Of them, seven people tested positive for new coronavirus after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RMC) today,” said Chief of the Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Laizu.

“The seven new infected patients are four staff of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), two policemen and a civilian of the metropolis,” Dr. Laizu added.

Besides, 14 new coronavirus patients of Dinajpur, Nilphamari and Thakurgaon districts were detected after testing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College ((MARMC) today.

Talking to BSS, Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker said the highest number of 14 coronavirus infected patients was detected for the first time today at the COVID Laboratory at MARMC after testing 94 samples of suspected patients.

The district-wise break of the detected COVID-19 patients stands at 82 in Rangpur, nine in Panchagarh, 31 in Nilphamari, four in Lalmonirhat, 22 in Kurigram, 21 in Thakurgaon, 29 in and Dinajpur and 24 Gaibandha districts in Rangpur division.
