During the view-exchange, BFUJ and DUJ leaders handed over members’ lists of the two journalists’ organizations to the information minister, seeking incentives for the newsmen amid the countrywide shutdown triggered by the outbreak of global epidemic coronavirus.

BFUJ President Molla Jalal and Secretary General Shaban Mahmud, and DUJ President Kuddus Afrad and General Secretary Sazzad Alam Khan Topu handed over the lists to Dr Hasan Mahmud.

Receiving the lists, the information minister said, “We have discussed how the journalists can be brought under rationing. At the same time, discussion was also held on how they can get financial assistance”.

“As the journalists are presenting news and also working to combat COVID-19 taking risks, we hope, we would be able to do something positive for them soon,” the AL joint general secretary said, adding a fair price shop of TCB commodities for journalists has already been set up on the Jatiya Press Club premises.

Bangladesh Newspapers Workers’ Federation President Md Matiur Rahman Talukder and Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspapers Press Workers President Md Alamgir Hossain Khan also handed over members’ lists of their respective organizations during the view-exchange.

AL Office Secretary Biplab Barua, Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana and Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan were present at the meeting, among others.
