Inter-ministerial meeting for distributing aid using ICT held
DHAKA, April 19, 2020 (BSS) – The government is committed to ensure swiftness, transparency, accountability and coordination in aid distribution as it held an inter-ministerial meeting today to do the job by using information and communication technology (ICT).
The virtual meeting was held between the ministers and senior officials of Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, and ICT Division.
Disaster Management and Relief Minister Dr Md Enamur Rahman joined the meeting from his secretariat office, while State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak joined from his official residence.
ICT Division Senior Secretary N M Zeaul Alam, Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Senior Secretary Md Shah Kamal and Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Md Mostafizur Rahman also joined the meeting, among others.
The ministers and officials at the meeting discussed ways to bring further coordination in aid distribution and bring swiftness in it, in detail.
Palak during the meeting, urged disaster management and relief minister to let him know what kind of technological support can ICT Division provide to his ministry in aid distribution.
The meeting called for setting up connection between national information helpline 333 and Ministry for Disaster Management and Relief, launching a central database to ensure transparency and accountability in aid distribution, and ensuring further coordination between the government and different volunteer agencies.
ICT Division officials at the meeting said access to information (a2i) programme would prepare a central database for the beneficiaries of aid distribution programmes across the country and it would ensure no repetition and irregularities to this end.
