Hasan clarifies stance on an error news report published on Apr 17
DHAKA, April 19, 2020 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today clarified his stance on an error news item (BSS Desh-6) of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) released on April 17 last.
A clarification letter issued from the Information Ministry said the news report mentioned that “the information minister said BNP instigated to demonstrations arranged with the hired people across the country demanding relief” although he did not give any speech mentioning the name of BNP, Jasad or any political party in the irregularities of relief distribution.
Immediately after the release of the report, the national news agency withdrew it due to factual error and a new news item was released with clarification. As per the instruction of the information minister, departmental action has also been taken against the reporter concerned.
Despite that, the error news item was published in many newspapers, the letter read.
