One more coronavirus positive case in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, April 14, 2020 (BSS) – One more coronavirus infected case has been reported here today taking the total positive cases to three in the district.
Existence of the virus has been spotted after testing samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital here this evening.
Afterwards, the house of the infected person at Gondogohali village under Bagmara Upazila was kept on lockdown.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Nazma Akter said the 30-year-old woman used to live with her husband in Narayangonj where her husband was working in a garments factory. She along with her husband returned back to their house from Narayangonj on Sunday last.
Since then they were in home quarantine. Their samples were sent to the laboratory on the following Monday on suspicion and the positive result came in today’s test while her husband’s test result is negative.
Dr Nazma said there were no visible symptoms in their bodies and they are physically fit but they are home quarantine at present.
She said the whereabouts of the persons who came in contact with them are being brought to notice and they were also asked to remain in home quarantine so that the virus cannot further spread.
Ataur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Bagmara Police Station, said police were sent to the house soon after receiving a message of the confirmation case and the house was kept on lockdown.
Two other positive cases were reported in Puthiya and Bagmara Upazilas on Sunday and Monday last.
Meanwhile, the Rajshahi district was brought under lockdown this morning to contain the spread of coronavirus as Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Hamidul Haque formally announced the lockdown, imposed from 10:00 am today.
