Rangpur AL leader Towhidur Rahman Tutul passes away

RANGPUR, April 6, 2020 (BSS) – Organising Secretary of Rangpur district Awami League (AL) Towhidur Rahman Tutul died of cardiac arrest at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) this noon.

He was 54, family sources said.

He left behind his wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and well- wishers to mourn his death.

Family sources said Tutul was rushed to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at RMCH this morning from his Senpara residence following a massive cardiac arrest. He breathed his last there at around 12 noon.

The news of his death cast a gloom of sorrow among the political leaders and activists of AL and other political parties, business community leaders, socio-cultural activists and common people of Rangpur city.

Tutul was a successful organiser, former General Secretary of District Shilpakola Academy and Rangpur unit of Joybangla Sangskritik Gosthi, Joint General Secretary of Rangpur Diabetic Samity and was involved with many other organisations.

His namaz-e-janaza was held on Rangpur Collectorate School and College ground. Leaders and workers of AL and other political parties, socio-cultural activists, freedom fighters, business leaders and common people attended the janaza. He was buried at the Baro Nurpur Graveyard in the city.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Razu, President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi and its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal expressed deep shock at the death of Tutul.

Besides, Rangpur Chamber President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu, President of the district BNP Saiful Islam and its General Secretary Roich Ahmed, Vice-president of city BNP Sultan Alam Bulbul and its General Secretary Shahidul Islam Miju and leaders of other political parties expressed deep shock at his death.

They conveyed deep sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
