RCC launches disinfectant spraying drive to halt coronavirus spread
RAJSHAHI, Mar 25, 2020 (BSS) – Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has launched
a special drive to keep the city disinfected by spraying bleaching powder
mixed liquid.
City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton inaugurated the programme in Shaheb Bazar
area today seeking all-out cooperation of the public in general to curb the
spread of coronavirus (COVID 19).
The mayor told journalists that Disinfectant Spraying Drive through the city
streets will be carried out using three water-tanks, one Jed and a police
water-tank.
Liton also said that the city corporation has adopted diversified measures,
including creating awareness among the public in general through distributing
leaflets and using loudspeakers.
Masks and sanitizers are being manufactured for health, conservancy workers
and the city dwellers, he said, adding, 490 personal protective equipment
(PPE) including 370 for RMCH reached here today to protect the doctors and
nurses from infection.
Mentioning that booths for using hand sanitizers by the roaming people were
set up on 26 spots across the city, he said steps have also been taken to
strengthen the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and other hospitals for
treatment of the infected patients.
RCC Panel Mayor Shariful Islam and Ward Councilors Kamal Hossain, Abdul
Momin and Towhidul Haque and Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun were
present on the occasion.
