ICT sector will boost country’s economy: Imran

DHAKA, March 10, 2020 (BSS) – Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmad today said the ICT sector will boost country’s economy like other developed countries of the globe.

He said this while speaking at a seminar on ‘To create Technology-Based Employment Opportunities the Role of Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority’ in Sylhet this afternoon with State Minister for ICT division Zunaid Ahmed Palak in the chair.

Imran also said the government is working to create skilled human resources through ICT training because ICT sector will enrich country’s economic condition.

Every year the government will send one thousand skilled workers abroad from every union and it will be open for all, he added.

The overseas employment minister said the present government established Sheikh Kamal Incubation and Innovation Center in Sylhet to train the educated youths for turning them into IT-skilled professionals for their employment in the IT industry.

‘The way Bangladesh is moving forward, the youths will not search for jobs, they will provide jobs,’ he added.

Among others, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Hosne Ara Begum, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Moshiur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Shah Jalal University of Science and Technology Farid Uddin Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet M Kazi Emdadul Islam were present at the seminar.
