BCC wins UN WSIS Prizes 2020

DHAKA, March 3, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) has won United Nation’s WSIS Prizes 2020 for developing e-recruitment platform, according to WSIS.

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) selected the BCC’s e-recruitment project titled “Recruitment Process Management as a Shared Service for Government Agencies of Bangladesh” for prize as it was among the most voted project in e-employment category 11, said Naiqian Zhang of WISIS in an e-mail sent to BCC on February 25 last.

After ending the voting phase globally on January 24, the expert group formed by the WSIS reviewed the top five voted projects of e-employment category for selecting one for awarding.

“We are happy to get prestigious WSIS prize for the second consecutive year for developing application – e-Recruitment system under Bangladesh National Digital Architecture (BNDA),” said Executive Director of BCC Parthapratim Deb.

He said the e-recruitment platform (erecruitment.bcc.gov.bd) will reduce time and bottleneck of recruitment process and ensure transparency.

It’s a secured platform that has processed over 148,000 job applications of 20 government organizations very successfully against 75 posts so far, he said, added that in the last year BCC also won WSIS Prizes 2019 in enabling environment category.

Project Director of Strengthening of BGD e-Gov CIRT Project Tarique M Barkatullah said the e-recruitment platform enables applicants to apply from home and pay from mobile phone.

Employers can process job applications electronically and it has option of conducting online exams with automated result processing facility, he said, adding that the e-recruitment platform utilizes Blockchain technology to ensure transparency in the recruitment process.
