Country’s education sector experiences unprecedented dev: Shirin

BHOLA, Feb 1, 2020 (BSS) – Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today said that unprecedented development and positive changes have been taken place in Bangladesh through education system.

“Special facilities are being provided for constructing academic buildings and setting up Sheikh Russel Digital Labs (computer labs) in various educational institutes, especially at concerned upazilas of the remote areas in the country,” she said.

She came up with the remarks while addressing the inaugural session of the programme as the chief guest organised by Charfasson Government College on its premises marking its Golden Jubilee.

Free textbooks are being distributed among children in the beginning of the year, she said, adding that so far, more than 35-crore books have been distributed among the students of pre-primary to ninth grade.

She said books worth of more than Taka 296 crore have been given since 2009 till now.

The present government is offering scholarships for girls so that they can come forward in the field of education, she added. Stipend money is being distributed through mobile banking system among 1.40-crore students from Class I to Class VIII, she said.

She said about 26,000 primary schools have been nationalized so far.

She urged the students to become worthy citizens of the country to build ‘Sonar Bangla’ for materialising the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The speaker formally inaugurated the programme releasing balloons and enjoyed cultural programmes.

With College Principal Kaiser Ahmed Dulal in the chair, the programme was addressed, among others, by Jatiya Sangsad Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury and local lawmaker Abdullah Al Islam Jakob as special guests.
