PM joins G7 Outreach Meeting
LA MALBAIE, QUEBEC, Canada, June 9, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina arrived here this morning to join Outreach Meeting of the G7 Summit.
Sheikh Hasina and other world leaders, beyond G7 Group, invited by Canadian Prime
Minister Justine Trudeau to the Outreach Meeting of the G7 Summit, reached La
Malbaie, about 145 kilometers from Quebec City, this morning by road.
Canadian Prime Minister Justine Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau
welcomed the Bangladesh premier on their arrival at Hotel Le Manoir Richelieu, the
venue of the meeting.
Sheikh Hasina along with other leaders joined official reception ceremony and took
photographs.
The G7 is a group consisting of the world’s seven largest advanced economies –
Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
President of Argentina and chair of the G20 Mauricio Macri, President of Haiti and
chair of the Caribbean Community Jovenel Moise, Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew
Holness, President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Marshall Islands Hilda
Heine, Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg, President of Rwanda and chair of the
African Union Paul Kagame, President of Senegal Macky Sall, President of Seychelles
Danny Faure, President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, Prime Minister of Vietnam
Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine
Lagarde, Secretary General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and
Development Jose Angel Gurria, Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio
Guterres and Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank Kristalina Georgieva also
join the event.
The Bangladesh prime minister later today is scheduled to join different sessions
of the Outreach Meeting and make intervention on the thematic discourses of the
summit as well as different contemporary issues like climate change, trade, global
terrorism and violent extremism, ethnic cleansing on Rohingyas in Myanmar.
She will also focus on Bangladesh’s socioeconomic progress over the years and
issues related to democracy, governance, poverty eradication and women development,
PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim said.
