President, PM ask the youth to follow Bangamata’s ideology

DHAKA, Aug 7, 2017 (BSS) – President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today called on the young generation to follow the ideology of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as she had played a pivotal role in building the nation staying beside the Father of the Nation.

The President and Prime Minister made the call in separate messages on the eve of the 87th birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib.

President Abdul Hamid in his message said Bangabandhu’s wife Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib is a pride of Bangalee nation and also a source of inspiration for womenfolk.

Terming Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib as the pioneer of Bangalees struggle for independence, Abdul Hamid said, “Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib was not only the wife of the Father of the Nation, but also was one of the pioneers for struggle of independence in the history of Bangladesh.”

Her contribution in the history of struggle for independence and the liberation war would be ever remembered, said the President.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said although Begum Mujib was a wife of the founder Prime Minister and President of an independent country she led a very simple life.

The Father of the Nation was frequently imprisoned on political grounds, but during that time she played an important role in administering the Awami League including get Bangabandhu released from jail, said the PM.

The PM recalled that during the liberation war in 1971, Bangamata had faced the situation with patience, courage and wisdom while her husband remained imprisoned in Pakistan.
