JS body for allocation to repair mosques, temples

DHAKA, Jan 5, 2020 (BSS) – The parliamentary standing committee meeting on Religious Affairs ministry today recommended keeping annual financial allocation to repair and renovate mosques and temples in every constituency.

The recommendation was made at its 5th meeting at Sangsad Bhaban here today with its chairman Md Hafiz Ruhul Amin Madani in the chair, a handout said.

The meeting suggested annual allocation of Taka (Tk) 10 Lakh for mosques, Tk 5 lakh for madrasas and Tk 5 lakh for temples in each constituency across the country.

The committee watchdog further discussed about the formation of the trustee board of Hindu Religious Welfare Trust and construction of its (welfare trust) own building in detailed.

The meeting had an elaborate discussion on the ongoing progress of programmes taken by the concerned ministry, it added.

Committee members Manoranjan Shill Gopal, Jinnatul Bakia, Tahmina Begum and Ratna Ahmed attended the meeting.

Senior officials of concerned ministry and Parliament Secretariat were also present at the meeting.
