JS body recommends increase of day care centres

DHAKA, Jan 5, 2020 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs today recommended increase
of day care centres and enactment of day care law to help improve conveniences of the working mothers of lower and middle income groups.

The parliamentary watchdog also suggested taking necessary steps to transfer the 11 day care centres with manpower to the revenue sector and imparting training to those working in the centres.

The committee made the recommendations at its 9th meeting at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban here with Committee Chairman Meher Afroz Chumki in the chair, said a press release.

The meeting decided to arrange on the spot visits to the day care centres by the committee members.

Committee members – State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira, Md. Abdul Aziz, Shabnam Jahan, Lutfun Nesa Khan and Sayeda Rashida Begum were present at the meeting.

Besides, members of Child Marriage and Gender-Based Violence Prevention sub-committee- Shirin Akhter, Aroma Dutta and Adiba Anjum Mita– were also present at the meeting.

The committee recommended bringing down child marriage rate to zero percent by 2041 as per the directive of the Prime Minister.

Secretary of for Women and Children Affairs Ministry and JS senior officials were also present at the meeting.
