Outgoing Turkish envoy calls on Speaker

DHAKA, Dec 10, 2019 (BSS)- Outgoing Turkey Ambassador to Bangladesh Devrim
Ozturk has paid a farewell call on Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin
Chaudhury at her office.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues including bilateral
relations, parliamentary friendship group, safe and peaceful repatriation of
Rohingyas and expansion of trade and commerce between both the countries, a
handout said here today.

Speaker said Bangladesh has close relation with Turkey and hoped that the
bilateral relationship between Turkey and Bangladesh would be strengthened in
future by establishing a parliamentary friendship group.

Bangladesh will celebrate the ‘Mujib Year’ from March 17, 2020 to March 26,
2021 through various programs marking the birth centenary of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, she mentioned.

Lauding the role of Turkey in different development sectors, Dr Chaudhury
urged Turkish businessmen to invest here in expanding the jute products of
Bangladesh.

The Turkey envoy said the existing relationship between the two countries
is excellent and expressed his satisfaction over the hospitality of
Bangladeshi people during her tenure.

He assured the Speaker that Turkey would always be on the side of
Bangladesh in resolving the Rohingya problem.

High officials of the parliament secretariat were present on the occasion.
