Prevent ill-competition in market: President

DHAKA, Dec 09, 2019 (BSS)- President M Abdul Hamid today asked the Bangladesh Competition Commission (BCC) to be more active to prevent ill-competition in markets as a BCC delegation submitted its Annual Report for the year 2018-19 to him at Bangabhaban here.

“During the meeting, the President was apprised of the overall activities of the commission by the competition commission,” President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told reporters after the meeting.

The head of the state said the healthy competition can play a positive role to expand commerce and investment.

This would help control price spiral, monopoly and conspiratorial deals in business, he observed.

President Hamid also advised the concerned officials to create mass awareness among the investors, businessmen and people in this connection.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi led the delegation.

BCC Chairman Md Mofizul Islam, Commerce Secretary Md Jafar Uddin, President’s Secretary Sampad Barua and Military Secretary Major General SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman were present at the meeting.
