7 members of ‘question leak’ gang detained

DHAKA, Dec 01, 2019 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested seven persons for their alleged involvement in leaking government recruitment and public university admission test question papers by conducting drives in city’s Kafrul and Lalbagh Thana.

The arrested were Md Mahmudul Hasan Azad, 36, Md Nahid, 25, Md Rasel Ali, 29, Md Ruhul Amin, 25, Md Khalequr Rahman Titu, 29, Md Ahmed Jobaer Symon, 26 and Md Ibrahim, 24.

DMP’s DC-Media Md Masudur Rahman told BSS correspondent that the DMP Serious Crime Investigation Department conducted drives on 29 and 30 November in Kafrul and Lalbagh thana and arrested them.

Police also seized 12 electronic devices, 16 micro headphones, 15 mobile phones, 25 sim cards, rubber armbands, micro earpieces, black electronic devices and four answer books of the said exams from them.

The official said that the gang was making deals with government job and public university admission seekers in exchange of Taka 5 to 15 lakh, and helping them to cheat their way into universities and government posts for a long time.

They provided the examinees with micro earpieces and small electronic devices to supply answers from outside the exam centers during BCS and other government recruitment and admission exams.

They used mobile apps and social media platforms to discuss their action plans with the gang members and the job seekers and students.
