RANGPUR, Nov 26, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul
Quader today called upon grassroots level leaders and workers to say no to
the ‘seasonal birds’ and opportunists in the party’s leadership.

“Awami League leaders and workers should follow the ideals of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and AL President Sheikh Hasina
to establish clean image of the party and evaluate dedicated leaders of tough
times,” he said.

Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said this while
addressing the inaugural session of the triennial councils of Rangpur
district and city units of AL at Public Library ground here this afternoon as
the chief guest.

Presided over by Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed,
General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanti Mandal moderated the function.

Quader said the name of Bangabandhu could not be erased from this soil
and hearts of the people despite many conspiracies are being hatched.

“None can wipe out the name of Bangabandhu from history,” Quader said
adding that AL is a party that flies the flag for new creation standing on
debris of destructions and country is advancing fast under the leadership of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“The AL leaders and workers are in a good time. But, the good time may
not exist always as power is not permanent. Do not show temperament of power
and remain polite,” he said.

Quoting reports, Quader said Sheikh Hasina is one of the best leaders
in the international arena and the most successful and popular leader of the
country in last 44 years during the post 1975 period.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leading the country with utmost
honesty. So, AL leaders and workers must have transparent and clean images,”
he said.

Quader suggested the party men to say not to the ‘cuckoos of the
spring’, opportunists, intruders, corrupts, tender manipulators, terrorists,
extortionists and land grabbers rather evaluate dedicated and deprived
leaders of rough times of the party.

He cautioned the AL leaders and workers not to build a house inside own
house or hang a mosquito net inside own mosquito net.

“We have to evaluate dedicated and honest leaders to save the country,
spirit of War of Liberation, democracy to further strengthening the hands of
Sheikh Hasina,” Quader said.

He called upon the grassroots level leaders and workers not to bring
controversial people in party leadership and support the anti-graft drives of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“None remains as a leader for life long. Time has come to infuse pure
blood in the party,” he said.

The AL leaders and workers should go to houses of the dedicated,
deprived and sick leaders and take care of them so that the next generation
leaders would take care of them when they become sick in the future.

Referring to massive developments conducted in Rangpur region, Quader
said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent the seasonal curse of ‘monga’ (an
extreme poverty-like situation) permanently to the museum.

“The construction of the four-lane highway from Dhaka to Tangail
continues while the process has begun from Bagura to Rangpur and will start
for the Rangpur to Burimari and Rangpur-to Banglabandha portions in the near
future,” he said.

“Over 94 percent people of Rangpur division are enjoying the facility of
electricity as the golden crop of the silent revolution of Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina and Sajeeb Wazed Joy has reached to every union in Rangpur
division,” Quader said.

Quader said, “Sheikh Hasina will give more to the people of Rangpur
region, there will be no poverty or unemployment and urban amenities will be
reached to villages.”

Earlier, AL Presidium Member Ramesh Chandra Sen, MP, along with Obaidul
Quader and other central leaders inaugurated the council by hoisting of the
national and party flags and releasing pigeons and balloons.

AL Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak addressed the function
as the main discussant suggesting grassroots level leaders and workers for
choosing dedicated leaders with clean image in the party’s leadership.
