Govt’s programmes in health sector earns global applaud: Indira

DHAKA, Nov 15, 2019 (BSS)-Bangladesh has been credited globally with pursuing programmes in the health sector, epitomizing a glaring mark in the improvement of mother and children health.

This was stated today by State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatunnesa Indira in a health-related programme in Munshiganj district.

The efficient management of the government to promote mothers and children’s health and prevent maternal and child mortality has been praised all over the world, she said.

She was addressing the inaugural session of a health camp under lactating mother support programmme on Mirkadim Municipality premises as the chief guest in Munshiganj district, a press release said.

The Munshiganj District Administration and Department of Women Affairs organised the programme, it added.

She said the government is working sincerely to improve the nutritional status of low-income working mothers and their children for making them self-reliant in social and economic fronts.

The state minister also that the average life expectancy of the people of the country has been increased by 7.5 years while the average life expectancy across the world has been raised by 5.5 years over the past 12 years.

Later, Indira distributed cheques and health care goods among the distressed mothers and their children.

Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Md Moniruzzaman Talukdar presided over the programme.

The function was attended, among others, by the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs Secretary Kamrun Nahar, Department of Women Affairs Director General Badrun Nessa Additional Superintendent of Police Mostafizur Rahman and Mirkadim municipality Mayor Shahidul Islam Shaheen.
