Bangladesh U-19 boys lose to Bhutan

DHAKA, Nov 10, 2019 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Under-19 boys’ football team, despite taking the first half lead, failed to qualify for the next round of AFC U-19 Championship as they suffered a 1-2 goal defeat to Bhutan in their third and last Group E match held on Sunday at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Manama, Bahrain.

In the day’s match, skipper Yasin Arafat gave Bangladesh a deserving lead in the 18th minute with a brilliant header while after the lemon break forward Yeshi Dorji restored the parity for Bhutan in the 65th minute.

Defender Dorji Kando sealed the victory for Bhutan scoring the second goal in the 90+2nd minute of the match.

Earlier, Bangladesh suffered 0-3 goal defeat to host Bahrain in their group opening match and played out to a fighting 1-1 draw with strong Jordan in their second group match.

Champions of eleven groups and four best runners-up teams will join Uzbekistan in the final round, which will be held from October 16-31 next year.
