Bangladesh lose to Maldives in Bangamata Volleyball

DHAKA, Nov 10, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh women’s volleyball team lost to their Maldives counterpart by 3-0 set in their second match of the 1st Bangamata Asian Senior Women’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship held on Sunday at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur.

In the day’s match, Bangladesh lost the first set by 25-16 point but despite offering a strong resistance Bangladesh again lost the second set by 27-25 point and finally they lost the third set by 25-22 points.

Aminath Arisha of the Maldives was named the player of the match for her impressive performance.

Earlier, in the day’s another match, Nepal defeated Afghanistan by straight 3-0 set.

Nepal comfortably won the first set by 25-4 points and continued their domination over Afghanistan by 25-9 point.

The Himalaya Kingdoms won the third set by 25-6 points to complete their second successive victory in the championship.

Protiva Mali of Nepal was named the player of the match her brilliant performance in the match.

Earlier, Bangladesh beat Afghanistan while the Maldives defeated Kyrgyzstan in both their respective opening matches.

Apart from host Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, The Maldives and Kyrgyzstan are taking part in the six-day meet, organized by Bangladesh Volleyball Federation BVF.

The top two teams will lock horn in the final scheduled to be held on November 14 at 3 pm following the third-place deciding encounter at 1 pm.

Agriculture Minister Mohammad Abdur Razzaque is expected to present in the closing ceremony of the tournament as the chief guest and distribute the prizes.
