Freedom fighter Sadeque Hossain Khoka laid to rest

DHAKA, Nov 7, 2019 (BSS) – Former mayor of Dhaka City Corporation, BNP Vice-Chairman and freedom fighter Sadeque Hossain Khoka was laid to eternal rest with state honor at Jurain graveyard.

His last namaz-e-janaza was held at Dhupkhola ground after Asr prayers.

A smart contingent of police gave a guard of honor to Khoka for his contribution to the 1971 Liberation War before his burial, BNP Chairperson’s media wing member Sairul Kabir Khan told BSS.

Earlier, the body of Khoka was flown to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here from the USA this morning.

On Monday, the freedom fighter died of cancer while undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

His first namaz-e-janaza was held on the South Plaza of Parliament Complex at 11 am today. After the janaza, a monajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.

Later, his body was kept on the premises of the Central Shaheed Minar from 12 noon to 1 pm to facilitate people to pay their last respect to him.

Leaders and workers of different political parties and people of all strata paid tributes to the freedom fighter by placing floral wreaths at his coffin.

After Zohr prayers, his second namaz-e-janaza was held in front of BNP Nayapaltan central office, while the third one was held on Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) premises at 3 pm.

DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon along with officials and employees of the city corporation joined the nama-e-janaza.

DSCC declared the day (Thursday) a holiday in memory of undivided Dhaka City Corporation mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka.

Later, his body was taken to his Gopibagh residence in the city. From there, the body was taken to Dhupkhola play ground where his last namaz-e-janaza was held after Asr prayers.
