Govt giving midday meal to cut school dropouts: Minister

NAOGAON, Nov 7, 2019 (BSS)-Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said the government is implementing a school feeding programme in the country’s poverty-prone areas aiming to cut school dropouts.

“To check school dropout, the government has introduced the school feeding progarmme at primary school level”, he said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of `School Midday Meal’ under the School Feeding Project at Porsha Upazila of Naogaon District.

The function was held on the premises of Kalinagar Government Primary School, organised by Porsha Upazila Administration.

Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan Mia, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) of Naogaon Md Kamruzzaman, Porsha Upazila Porishad Chairman Shah Monjur Morshed Chowdhury, Zila Primary Education Officer Md Aminul Islam, Assistant Director of School Feeding Project Abdul Mannan and Porsha Upazila Awami League President Anwarul Islam were, among others, present at the function while Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nazmul Hamid Reza in the chair.

Speaking as chief guest, Sadhan Chandra said the government has a plan to introduce school meal at every school of the country.

The government has also put attention on producing nutritious food to boost the merit of students.
