Dr Matin BTCL’s new Managing Director
DHAKA, Nov 3, 2019 (BSS) – Dr Md Rafiqul Matin today took over the
position of Managing Director of the state-owned Bangladesh
Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL).
Government appointed him to the new position as he has been serving as
the Deputy Managing Director of BTCL along with the additional
responsibilities as project director of the ongoing Cyber Threat Detection
and Response Project, said a BTCL press release.
Dr Matin joined the then Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB)
in 1991 as Assistant Divisional Engineer through ninth BCS under Telecom
cadre. Later, he has been promoted as Deputy Divisional Engineer in 1999
followed by Divisional Engineer in 2003, Director in 2009 and General Manager
in 2018.
Born on January 22, 1964 in Rajshahi, Dr Matin passed SSC in 1980 under
Jessore Board securing position 14th in combine merit list while HSC in 1982
under Rajshahi Board attaining position 6th in combine merit list. He
obtained BSC Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and
Technology (BUET) with EEE attaining first class in 1988 and MSC in 1991.
He also obtained MBA Degree from North South University in 2003 and
doctoral degree from IBA of Dhaka University.
Dr Matin received training from France, Japan, Canada and Turkey while
participated at seminars in Sweden, China, USA, South Korea, Norway and
United Kingdom.
