Hasan asks BNP leaders to see their faces in looking glass

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 01, 2019 (BSS)- Castigating the BNP leaders for dubbing the ongoing anti-graft drive as a mere eyewash, Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud today suggested them to see their own faces in looking glass before unethically falsifying any pro-people programmes of the government.

The current anti-corruption onslaught is not directed against the BNP leaders but those indulged in corruption and misdeeds, he said.

He went on saying that the drive is not only being carried out against those in the Awami League, but the wrong doers including grabbers, extortionists and corrupt persons within BNP will be rooted out through the crackdown, the information minister added.

The ongoing drive against corruption and irregularities are not only against his party men rather the government is also looking into involvement of BNP leaders with casino business and corruption, Hasan said.

The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had taken steps to eradicate corruption from her own party. Then, she will take action against the wrongdoers and corrupt people of BNP, he added.

The minister further said the government actions against corrupt people are not being taken beyond the law and the drive will go against corrupt people of all parties.

Dr Hasan was replaying to questions of journalists after attending the Kothin Chibor Dan Utsob -2019 on DC Hill premises tonight.

Chattogram Buddhu Bihar organized the Kothin Chibor Dan Utsob -2019.

The information minister said the anti-graft drive will be conducted across the country gradually to uproot the weeds from the party.

Shasonratno Dharmasen Mohathero, principal of Kulkurmai Sadhormodoi Bihar, Rangunia, presided over the function while deputy office Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and special assistant to the Prime Minister Barrister Biplop Barua, Chairman of Bangladesh Buddu Samity Ajit Ranjon Barua, its General Secretary Sudip Barua, Vice-president Sukumar Barua and Buddhu Samity Dhaka Babu Swpan Barua, among others, addressed the function.
