Integrate Down syndrome people in society
DHAKA, Oct 28, 2019 (BSS) -To observe the Down syndrome Awareness Month a seminar was organised at R.C Majumder Auditorium of the Dhaka University.
DU communication disorder department in collaboration with the Down Syndrome Society of Bangladesh, Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital and the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia, Bangladesh organised the seminar.
The speakers said “Down syndrome was not a disease rather a genetic disorder and people suffering from it should be treated with extra care and compassion”.
Communication disorder chairman of Dhaka University Hakim Arif presided over the seminar while DSSB chairman Sardar A Razzak, Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital chairman Sardar A Nayeem, Managing Director of Neuro-Developmental Disabilities Protection Trust Md Moshiur Rahman , RTV creative director Syeda Munira Islam were also present as special guests.
The organisations brought out a procession on the campus marking the awareness programme where children, teachers, parents with Down syndrome, among others, took part.
