One dacoit killed, four cops injured in gunfight
NARAYANGANJ, Oct 27, 2019 (BSS) – A member of an inter-district dacoit
gang was killed while four policemen were injured in a gunfight with police
in Araihagar upazila of the district in the early hours of today.
The deceased was identified as Abu Sayeed Alias Chetka, 35, son of Nazim
Mian of Jogardia area in the upazila. The injured are Sub-Inspector Siraj,
Assistant Sub-Inspector Sabuj Chandra Das and constables Liton Mian and
Rafoiqul Islam.
A pistol was recovered from the spot, police sources said.
Based on the confessional statement of Abu Sayeed, a team of police raided
Ulumdi area in the upazila, Nazrul Islam Officer-in-Charge of Araihajar thana
said.
As soon as the law enforcers reached the area, the dacoits opened fire,
forcing them to retaliate, he said. At one point of the gunfight, Abu Sayeed
sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot, he added.
