Dulu, Babu elected new President, Secretary of Rangpur Press Club

RANGPUR, July 29, 2017 (BSS) – Rangpur Correspondent for UNB Sadrul Alam Dulu and Correspondent of the local ‘Dainik Dabanol’ Rashid Babu have been elected as new President and General Secretary of Rangpur Press Club (RPC) respectively.

Twenty-six members of RPC, out of total 27, cast their votes in the biennial general election of the 13-member executive committee held at RPC office here on Friday.

Earlier, Sadrul Alam Dulu, also a freedom fighter, won the President post unopposed.

The other executive committee members elected unopposed are: Joint Secretary- Mostafa Sarwar Anu (Dainik Dabanol), Treasurer- Shushanto Bhowmick (Dainik Khola Kagoj), Sports Secretary- Sajjad Hossain Bappi (Drik News and Dainik Kartoa), Literature and Cultural Secretary- Nazrul Islam Mridha (Dainik Juger Alo), Office and Communication Secretary- Siddikur Rahman (Bangladesh Samoy).

However, elections were held for the only post of General Secretary, two posts of Vice-presidents and four posts of Executive Members of the executive committee.

Rashid Babu won the General Secretary post bagging 16 votes defeating his nearest rival Staff Reporter of Channel-i Merina Lovely who bagged eight votes.

Rafikul Islam Sarker (Maasranga Television) and Abdur Rahman Mintu (New Nation) won posts of Vice-presidents bagging 19 and 17 votes respectively.

Zakir Hossain (New Age) bagged 18 votes, Abdur Rouf Sarker (Dainik Janakantha) 17 votes, Joynal Abedin (Banglavision Television) 16 votes and Manik Sarker Manik (Samoy Television) bagged 15 votes to win posts of executive members respectively.

A three-member Election Commission headed by President of Rangpur Ainjibi Samity Advocate Abdul Kaiyum Mandal conducted the election.
