Amu for allocating plot to real Jamdani weaver
DHAKA, May 29, 2018 (BSS) – Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu today asked the authorities concerned to ensure allocation of plot for the real Jamdani weaver in the Jamdani Industrial City.
“All plots should be allocated to the Jamdani weavers. If any plot allocates for the other industry, the allocation will have to be canceled immediately,” he said while inaugurating a ten-day “Jamdani Exhabiation-2018” at the Bangladesh National Museum Auditorium in the city.
Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) and Bangladesh National Museum jointly organised the exhibition.
State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam and Parliament Member Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Protik), among others, spoke in the inauguration function with BSCIC Chairman Mustak Hasan Muhammad Iftikhar in the chair.
Amu said Jamdani has already registered as the Geographical Indication (GI) product of Bangladesh. “So that, we will have to ensure the protection of Jamdani as the domestic special characteristic product,” he added.
