Taking bribe is like begging: ACC chief
DHAKA, Oct 1, 2019 (BSS) – Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission
(ACC) Iqbal Mahmood today said taking bribe and begging have no difference as
bribe-takers have no self-respect.
“The people, who think that nobody would be able to know if they take
bribes, live in a fool’s paradise,” he said while addressing a workshop at
the ACC headquarters in the capital.
The ACC chief said every work of the officials of the ACC must be
specific, measurable, acquirable, relevant and time-bound aiming to turn the
national anti-graft agency into a smart institution.
“This must be reflected in the work of ACC officials. That’s why there is
no alternative to transparency and accountability in this regard,” he said.
Mahmood said there should not be any scope in the information management
of the Commission so that no one can trace the ACC’s file movement during
probe.
Leaking out information of the anti-graft watchdog is total violation of
the code of conduct, he added.
