BRUR take steps for own branding: VC


RANGPUR, July 26, 2017 (BSS) – Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah today said steps were underway for its branding as part of efforts to turn the university as an ideal institution for higher studies.

“We have launched a campaign to brand the university as world standard place for higher education and research, discarding the old negative practices,” the VC said while inaugurating a two-day training programme titled ‘Public Relations Strategy for News Agency’ at Heyat Mamud Bhaban on the campus.

Managing Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Shahriar Shahid is conducting different sessions as the main resource person at the programme organised by the Public Relations, Information and Publications department of the university, the only general categorised university in Rangpur Division and also the second public university in northwestern region.

Professor of the Department of Bengali of the university Dr Sharifa Salowa Dian, Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Dr Md Nazrul Islam, Head of the Department of English Asif Al Matin and BSS Rangpur Bureau Chief Mamun Islam were present at the function.

Apart from this, students of Mass Communication and Journalism, university officials and journalists were present.

While speaking at the programme, Shahid called upon the participants to remain impartial in gathering information and filing news reports keeping in the back of their mind the common people’s greater interest.

He also explained the strategy of public relations in news agency and mass media.

Shahid appreciated the mass communication students’ group performance in launching YouTube and expressed his confidence that they could contribute towards branding of BRUR through objective reporting in future.
