AL to work for JaPa candidate in Rangpur-3 by-poll

RANGPUR, Sept 25, 2019 (BSS) – The district Awami League (AL) today decided to work for the Jatiya Party (JaPa)-nominated candidate Rahgir Al Mahi Saad Ershad in Rangpur-3 by-election slated for October 5 next.

The decision was taken unanimously at a working meeting of the executive committee of district AL held at its office in Betpotti area of the city this evening.

Presided over by Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Razu moderated the meeting participated by members of the district AL’s executive committee.

Earlier, Advocate Razu withdrew his nomination paper on October 16 last as AL-nominated candidate from the Returning Officer for Rangpur-3 by-election to extend support to the JaPa candidate as per the decision taken by the party’s high command.

Former lawmaker and Vice-president of district AL Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia, its Vice-presidents Matiar Rahman, Joynal Hossain and Majibar Rahman Pramanik, Joint General Secretary Professor Mazed Ali Babul, Organising Secretary Advocate Anwarul Islam, Treasurer Abul Kashem, Women Affairs Secretary Latifa Shawkat, Publicity Secretary Rosy Rahman, Education Affairs Secretary Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon, Labour Affairs Secretary Gawaherul Islam, Religious Affairs Secretary Abdur Rahman, among others, addressed.

After discussions, the meeting unanimously decided to support and work unitedly in favour of JaPa-nominated candidate Rahgir Al Mahi Saad Ershad in the upcoming by-poll in Rangpur-3 seat as per decision of the high command of AL.

The meeting also decided to hold a joint meeting of the AL leaders of all five union committees under Rangpur Sadar upazila and district AL at its office at 5 pm on September 27 in connections with the by-poll in Rangpur-3 seat.

The meeting took decision of arranging Milad and Doa mahfils at district AL office on September 28 after the Maghreb prayers in celebrations of the birthday of AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Besides, the executive committee meeting decided to complete council of district AL between November 23 and November 29 next.
