KHULNA, Sept 25, 2019 (BSS) – A sedition suit was filed against BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu here today for his reported “audacious” remarks casting aspersions on the architect of independence, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his elder daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Acting General Secretary of Awami League District Unit Advocate Sujit Adhikari filed the case.
Shahidul Islam, judge of the court, received the complaint and asked the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna sadar police station for carrying out investigation into the matter.
Taking part in a talk show of a private TV channel on September 16, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, who is also the vice chairman of BNP, said Sheikh Hasina will be ousted like her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The complainant said Dudu’s remarks about Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina not only demonstrated his audacity but also insinuated disrespect for Bangabandhu and Mother of Humanity Sheikh Hasina and the Bangali Nation as well.
Talking to BSS this afternoon, Advocate Sujit Adhikari said,”I was hurt by the remarks as a citizen of Bangladesh, because defaming the Father of the Nation and Deshratna Sheikh Hasina is tantamount to defaming each citizen of the country.”
“For this reason I filed the case,” he added.
